For the South/East End of Ottawa, YES - Employment Services.
For
the West End of Ottawa, JHS - Youth Employment Resource Centre.
For
the Central/East of Ottawa, St. Lawrence College.
This Ontario
government program can help students find a summer job. The program
provides free job search support and placement services to students.
It also provides a $2/hour hiring incentive for employers who
hire a student during the summer.
What
Services Are Available?
The Summer
Jobs Service offers the following:
- free
training on how to develop job-search and self-marketing skills to
help a student land and keep a job;
- a $2/hour
hiring incentive for employers to hire a student;
- jobs
that can last up to 16 weeks beginning in April and ending by September
30.
- summer
and year-round job postings for students.
Who
Can Participate?
Students:
- 15
to 30 years old;
- planning
to return to school in the fall.
Employers:
- Private,
not-for- profit or broader public sector employers operating and offering
a summer job in Ontario.
To
receive a hiring incentive for a summer student placement an employer
must also:
- Ensure
liability and workplace safety insurance coverage for the student
placement;
- Not
be related to the student.
