There are any number of great resources available through Job Connect which can assist you to help your child find employment or return to school. If your child is not currently attending school, college or university and is wondering what they should do, then this should be their first stop. We assist youth with making the transition from school to work and in getting them employed and earning money.

Our team is experienced in working with youth, especially those who have little to no previous work experience. Every youth requiring employment assistance receives individual counselling without any specific time restraints and all employment services are FREE! We also offer a variety of employment workshops.

One of the most valuable things parents can do to help their child with career planning is to be open to their ideas and be non-judgmental. Encourage your child to visit one of our locations. Suggest to your child that they also develop a resume to the best of their ability and list personal hobbies and interests as well. Think of things that your child is naturally good at and then think of possible jobs that might enable your child to put some of these skill sets to use.

Most importantly, show interest in your child's interests and talk to them about what they would like to do. Share with them your own personal experiences. Do you remember your very first job? That topic might be a good starting point when discussing career choices with your child.
