On-Line Smart Serve Certification

Location: The Youth Employment Resource Centre- 3730 Richmond Rd., Suite 216, Nepean (Bell's Corners), Ottawa (West)

Smart Serve Certification is mandatory to serve alcohol in the hospitality industry.

The on-line course covers:
-facts about alcohol
-how alcohol works in the body
-signs of intoxication
-legal rights and responsibilities
-civil liability
-types of licenses
-prevention and intervention techniques
-house policies
-risk assessment

The course can take up to 3 hours to complete online at our centre and has to be within our hours of operation. We are open Monday to Thursday from 8:30am - 4:30pm and Friday from 8am to 4pm. Cost is $30.00 per person (cash) and you will be certified immediately after successful completion.

W.H.M.I.S. Certification

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) training is required by law for all workers. Participants receive their WHMIS card after they complete the course. This is a generic on-line course, and it continues to be the responsibility of the employer to ensure workers have knowledge of site specific hazards. The course can take between 1 and 3 hours to complete depending on your abilities.

The cost is $35.00 (cash only) and Free for eligible Job Connect clients.

This three hour workshop will provide you with all the training and tools necessary to successfully gain Smart Serve Certification. You have the option to take this certification online at our Job Search Centre or once a month in a classroom setting.
